The Christmas Party for Special Children is a project run in conjunction with The Salvation Army and supported by a number of sponsoring media companies to provide a Christmas Party for children with a variety of special needs.
The Adelaide Christmas Party for Special Children commenced in 1994, and during the ensuing years, in excess of 33,000 special needs children have had the opportunity to partake in a truly wonderful experience.
Since 2002, the Christmas Party for Special Children has been held at the Adelaide Zoo. Nothing is too much trouble for the Zoo staff and the event has been a tremendous success from the very first year. Each year we look at ways to improve and expand the event and through the efforts of the Salvation Army and the Adelaide Zoo team we have managed to do this. 2010 will be the Adelaide Christmas Party for Special Children's 17th year. With the continued support of the South Australian business community we will ensure yet another 2000 special needs children from metropolitan and country South Australia will enjoy a wonderful twilight event at the Adelaide Zoo filled with entertainment, a “Zoo-B-Q”, drinks, ice cream and much more. A Special Moment that You made possible
Smiles all around! For the past 16 years each event has been wonderful and it just keeps getting better and the 16th party was 'Fantastic' for approximately 2000 children with special needs. The weather was a little dodgy to start with but as soon as we opened the gates the sun shone through!!
Special thanks must go out to the 250 staff and volunteers of the Adelaide Zoo and Salvation Army for they ensured that the day ran smoothly. And to all of our sponsors a very Big Thank You from the kids and for those sponsors who helped on the day an extra hug!!!
